Stress and well-being at work

As a musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapist, I am interested to read on more than one occasion, that on top of MSK injuries limiting people working, stress and stress related factors are now considered the primary reason for absence and sickness from the workplace!

Whilst I am not a practicing mental health professional and certainly not proficient in some secondary and tertiary management strategies, physiotherapy can help with some stress and anxiety reducing strategies.

I attended a mindfulness course at the start of this year, to help reduce some of these symptoms that I suffer and I found this extremely helpful. Whilst these strategies do not remove the primary reason we suffer from stress, and with current austere times showing no sign of alleviating, these are unlikely to diminish anytime soon. I feel it is therefore vital at these times that we take control of our mental health too to protect our physical and psycho-social health.
